 keptic in Glastonbury\n\nGlastonbury is probably the most spiritually dive
 rse town in the UK\, it is steeped in myths\, legends\, and spiritual myst
 ique. According to estimates it attracts over 100\,000 tourists and spirit
 ual pilgrims every year\, and many of the permanent residents of Glastonbu
 ry are committed to spiritual exploration. As a postdoctoral research fell
 ow Kat Ford moved to Glastonbury to try and gain a better understanding of
  modern spirituality\, of how ideas spread and change\, of what attracts p
 eople to alternative spiritual paths\, and the enduring spiritual allure o
 f Glastonbury itself. As an atheist and long term member of the UK Skeptic
 al community\, what did Kat learn when she spent 18 months as a profession
 al people watcher and vibe checker in the centre of modern British spiritu
 ality.\n\nDr Kat Ford is a postdoctoral research fellow at Brunel Universi
 ty London\, currently working on the Spirits and Sources project which exp
 lores alternative spiritual beliefs in Glastonbury UK. She gained her PhD 
 in Psychology from the Centre for Culture and Evolution and Brunel Univers
 ity where she looked at the relationship between religious cognition and o

 free to attend as part of the PBH Free Fringe\, although we will be asking
  for donations at the end of the talk. Participants are under no obligatio
 n whatsoever to donate\, however please rest assured that the money we col
 lect doesn't end up in anyone's pocket - it is used to fund our overhead c
 osts\, and travel/accommodation for our speakers who come from further afi
 eld.\, as well as supporting the Free Fringe overall. Please note there ar
 e some steps in the venue so if you have motor difficulties\, please let u
 s know and we may be able to make other arrangements.
