  people going\n\nIn the Golden Gate National Recreation Area\, the Marin H
 eadlands\, a wonderful looping hikes with lagoons\, beaches\, and views of
  the city\, a rocky cove and the pacific coast. Love the feeling of Tennes
 see Valley\, a relaxing walk along the Lagoon out to the beach. The hike r
 eally begins after you go up a steep climb\, approx. 600 feet\, on the nor
 th side of the Valley to the Coastal Fire Road\, and then go on to a plate
 au at the Coastal Trail\, with views over the valley and the Pacific Ocean
 . After moving along the Coastal Trial\, you have a small out and back dow
 n a rocky climb to Pirates Cove\, a cool small inlet beach with large rock
  outcrops\, well worth the effort. You then go along the Coastal trail enj
 oying views of the Pacific Ocean on your left and reach a plateau overlook
 ing the coast and Muir Beach.\n\nLevel: Intermediate Plus (Long Steep Hill
 s)\nTotal Distance: 8.6 miles loop\nHiking Time: 3.5 - 4 hours\nElevation:
  Approx. 600 feet from Tennessee Valley beach to Coastal Trail Bluff\, Tot

  end of Tennessee Valley Road to Tennessee Valley Trail Head Parking Lot\,
  591 Tennessee Valley Road\, Mill Valley\, parking can fill up quick\, par
 k along the road. Bathrooms are located at the trailhead. We will meet at 
 the Picnic Table on grass at the start of parking lot.\n\nDirections:\nFro
 m US 101 in Marin County\, take the CA 1/Shoreline Highway exit. After abo
 ut 0.5 mile\, turn left onto Tennessee Valley Road. Go about 1.5 miles to 
 the parking lot at the end of the road\n\nHiking Directions: Start Tenness
 ee Valley Trail Head\, through Tennessee Valley Gate\, straight along Tenn
 essee Valley Trail\, at the fork stay left through the marsh trail to the 
 beach (Short Break and Photo at Beach)\, then take the upper Tennessee Val
 ley Trail\, just after the Restroom at junction\, Right up hill on the Coa
 stal trail\, at bluff (Lunch Break)\, then Left along the Coastal trail\, 
 at the bottom of the stairs you reach a bend\, that is the out and back to
  Pirates Cove\, climb down to Pirates cove and then back up\, then continu
 e Left North on the Coastal trail\, Junction with Muir beach\, another out
  and back to a bluff overlooking the Coast and Muir beach\, then back stra
 ight up the Coastal Fire Road\, at the top\, Right a short ways and take\,
  Left down Fox Trail\, Left at the bottom on Tennessee Valley Trail back t
