  people going · starting soon\n\nWalk length 8.5miles/14km approx. Circula
 r.\n\nA chance to explore the Surrey Hills and the fantastic views from Pe
 wley Down and St Martha's Hill and exploring a heritage trail past Chilwor
 th Gunpowder Mills.\n\nThe walk passes the grounds of historic Guildford c
 astle built shortly after the 1066 invasion of England when Guildford was 
 sacked by William the Conqueror along with other towns along the Pilgrims 
 Way.\n\nWe will stop for a short coffee/drink stop at a pub near Chilworth
 .\n\nSt Martha's Church is on the Pilgrims' Way an historic footpath suppo
 sed to have been used by pilgrims walking to the shrine of Thomas Becket a
 t Canterbury.\n\nThe walk also follows a short part of the River Wey just 
 south of Guildford.\n\nThe walk includes some hill climbs but also level r
 idge sections and river paths.\n\nLunch and Finish\n\nThe walk should fini
 sh at about 6.00pm however the time may be earlier or later than this depe
 nding on the weather and pace.\n\nTransport and meeting\n\nThere are two m
 eeting options for this walk\, see below!\n\nMeeting: Train from London: M
 eet outside the main WHSmith next to the rail information point and Pret A
  Manager on the main concourse at Waterloo Station from 12.15pm (see photo
  below) to get the 12.45pm train that gets to Guildford for 13.24pm for th
 e walk to start. We need time to get tickets/group saves so please be prom
 pt (3-9 people with a group save).\n\nCost\n\nTrain about £18.10 return fr
 om London to Guildford but with a group save (3 or more and must travel to
 gether) or individual network railcard should be less.\n\nWalk Cost: £5 ca
 sh on the day organizer fee (For paypal it is 'colin45@hotmail.co.uk' Plea
 se send as friends and family to avoid charges. For bank transfer message 
 organizer.\n\nCar: Meet outside Guildford Station for walk to start at 1.3
 0pm\, after the train arrives from London at 1.24pm. The organizer is comi
 ng by train.\n\nParking: Guildford\, main car parks may charge but side st
 reets may be free (please check for restrictions and leave enough time to 
 park).\nWe will use a pub in Guildford after the walk\, there are regular 
 trains back to London Waterloo.\n\nPlease make a note of the organizers nu

 ep fit and generally very safe\; however it does contain an element of ris
 k. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be
  prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You should wear appropria
 te clothing such as proper walking shoes\, warm and wet weather clothing a
