SUMMARY:Peak District walk: Steel Cotton Rail Trail 3 – Marple to Mancheste
 r (16 mi)
LOCATION:Four Seasons Indian Restaurant
DESCRIPTION:Saved in Palaner as: saved\n\nPalaner match: 28% · why: lots of
  people going\n\nThis walk forms part of a three-stage challenge:\nPart 1:
  Sheffield → Hope (20 miles)\nPart 2: Hope → Marple (25 miles)\nPart 3: Ma
rple → Manchester (16 miles)\n\nJoin us for the third stage of the Steel C
otton Rail Trail\, a long-distance walking route linking Sheffield and Man
chester through the heart of the Peak District.\n\nThis final section take
s us from Marple into the centre of Manchester\, following peaceful canals
\, riverside paths\, former railway corridors and urban green spaces as we
complete our journey from the Peak District to one of Britain's great ind
ustrial cities.\n\nLeaving Marple behind\, we'll follow the Peak Forest Ca
nal before joining the Ashton Canal and the historic waterways that once t
ransported goods between Manchester's mills and factories. Along the way\,
we'll enjoy a surprisingly green route through parks\, woodland and water
side paths before finishing in the heart of Manchester.\n\nThis stage prov
ides a fascinating contrast to the previous walks\, swapping rugged moorla
nd and hilltops for historic canals\, industrial heritage and vibrant city
scenery.\n\nThe Steel Cotton Rail Trail celebrates the historic connectio
n between Sheffield's steel industry and Manchester's cotton mills\, follo
wing the railway corridor that allowed generations of workers to escape th
e industrial cities and enjoy the countryside.\n\nWhether you're planning
to complete the entire Sheffield-to-Manchester journey or simply join us f
or this stage\, you're very welcome.\n\n📸 Featured Photo\n\nCornwall on th
