SUMMARY:Saturday Morning Book Club
LOCATION:The Architect
DESCRIPTION:Saved in Palaner as: saved\n\nPalaner match: 31% · why: lots of
people going\n\nJoin us for a friendly book discussion. The book to be di
scussed this time is "Saturday" by Ian McEwan.\n\nIf more than 12 people a
ttend we will probably split into 2 smaller groups.\nFor information about
the book on Amazon click on the link below:\n\n"Saturday" by Ian McEwan\n
\nWe will meet in the lobby/reception area of The Architect cafe/bar in ce
ntral Bath to discuss the book over a coffee or other drink.\n\nBooks to b
e Discussed for the remainder of 2026\n(Dates are provisional. One or two
may be adjusted nearer the time but these are the current plans):\n\n22 Au
gust 2026 - Saturday by Ian McEwan\n19 September 2026 - My Wife the Serial
Killer by HJ Garbett\n17 October 2026 - The Offing by Benjamin Myers\n14
 November 2026 - The Artist by Lucy Steeds\n19 December 2026 (Afternoon) -
Book Quiz & Social\n\nSaturday Morning Book Club Guidelines\nThese guideli
nes apply to the Book Club events run on Bath Social Group by Dave on Satu
rday Mornings. Other Bath Social Group members are welcome to set up other
book club events of their own on the Group if they wish to do so and can
choose to follow these guidelines or create their own if they prefer a dif
ferent format.\n\n1. This Book Club is a friendly informal gathering. Diff
erent views are welcome but please ensure you give others the opportunity
to speak and treat others with respect.\n2. If you are only part way throu
gh the book by the time of the meeting you are still welcome to attend but
bear in mind there may be spoilers!\n3. Whilst you do not have to have fi
nished the book to attend\\\, it is expected that you will have read enoug
h of it to be able to make some contribution to the discussion\\\, as the
event is a book discussion group not simply a social gathering!\n4. Books
to be discussed are expected to be 21st century works of fiction available
for purchase in paperback form (though participants can of course choose
to read them in another format if they prefer). Ideally the book should no
t be too long (preferably less than 400 pages).\n5. Suggestions for books
to discuss are welcome and the aim of the Book Club will be to allow diffe
rent members the opportunity to put forward suggestions.\n6. The aim is fo
r this Book Club to run monthly usually on a Saturday morning but with a b
reak for December when people tend to become occupied by Christmas prepara
 tions.
