SUMMARY:Build & Learn: From Data Science to AI Engineering Week 3
LOCATION:Octupus Bar
DESCRIPTION:Saved in Palaner as: saved\n\nPalaner match: 21% · why: lots of
people going\n\n📅 Week 3: Build Production ready AI backends\n\nThis even
t is part of our seven-week AI Engineering program\, where we build an end
-to-end AI application step by step and present our finished projects duri
ng Demo Day in Week 7.\n\nThis week\, we’ll work through the key layers of
a modern AI application:\n\nBuild APIs with FastAPI and validate everythi
ng with Pydantic.\nContainerize with Docker and work with PostgreSQL for s
torage.\nManage configuration and secrets safely with environment variable
s.\nUnderstand MCP servers and how they extend your AI applications.\n\nBy
the end of the 7 week cycle\, you should have a working AI application in
your own GitHub repository and practical experience with AI pipelines\, A
 PIs\, databases\, retrieval\, evaluation and deployment.\nYou are welcome
to follow the shared project or apply the weekly concepts to your own proj
ect.\n\n✨ Who is this for?\nThis cycle is designed for data scientists\, a
nalysts\, software developers and Python users interested in moving toward
AI engineering.\nNo previous LLM or AI engineering experience is required
. However\, you should already understand basic Python or be willing to co
 mplete some preparation independently.\n\n✨ Who’s hosting?\nI’m Lindsey\,
a senior data scientist working on AI systems\, causal inference and data
products.\nI’ve worked on machine learning\, uplift modelling\, fraud dete
ction and production LLM systems. I care about learning through building—a
nd moving beyond AI hype toward applications that actually work.\n\n💻 Brin
g: Your laptop\, your project and your curiosity.\n☕ Please grab a coffee
or drink from the Octopus Bar to support the business and thank them for p
 roviding the space.
