 people going\n\n🏛️ WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?\nPractical Philosoph
y is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opport
unity to dive deep on a topic\, practice communicating\, and building a co
mmunity. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎\n\nPracti
cal Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible t
o all\, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose
a topic\, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical
thinking and communication as we explore that topic.\n\nThe goal is to he
lp develop our Critical Thinking\, Communication\, and Community 🙌\n\n📓 HO
W DOES IT WORK?\nEach week\, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic f
or the week is shared\, generally in the Whatsapp group\, along with jump-
off points to get the conversation going.\nIf the group gets bigger than 1
0-15 people\, we will consider breaking into smaller groups. This way we a
re able to maintain a conversational flow and ensure everyone has a chance
to participate.\n\nGeneral Meeting Agenda\nEach Practical Philosophy begi
ns at 7:00p and follows this general timeline:\n\n7:00-7:15 - People arriv
e and chat\, get to know each other before the ‘official' start.\n7:15-7:2
5 - Explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week\, revie
w the discussion guidelines so attendees know what to expect.\n7:25-8:45 -
Main discussion on the selected topic - allow the conversation to evolve
organically and/or use the ‘jump-off’ questions as prompts to guide the co
nversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them.\n8:45-9:00 - Wrap up and c
losing thoughts. Organizer concludes the meeting and everyone takes a grou
p photo.\n9:00 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity
to get to know people in a non-structured environment\, so we often stick
around\, chat\, and get to know each other.\n\n🧧PRICING?\nPractical Philo
sophy Club is FREE to attend! To support our venue\, we ask that you buy a
beverage/snack.\nSome chapters rent a space for us to meet\, and they may
ask for donations to help contribute to the cost. Donations will always b
e 100% voluntary though!\n\n💛 WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY\n
🗣 “I feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system
through a series of perspectives while not promoting what’s right and wro
ng” - Ekam\n\n🗣 “I got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and fel
t it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go
to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and c
ommunity by interacting with people who might challenge your point of view
s but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility
 .” - Daniel\n\n🤓 FAQ\n\nWhat will we talk about? What's the topic?\n\nTh
e topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try
to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if
you don’t see it\, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our Whatsa
pp.\n\nDo I need to study or read anything to attend?\n\nNo preparation is
necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU
think about the topic\, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have
a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share\, throw it o
 n the table and we’ll discuss it\, but it's not required.\n\nIs there a sp
ecific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?\n\nThe goal of
our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions\, and flex our critical t
hinking muscles. Because of this\, we want to hear from every realm of tho
 ught\, and don't study a particular school.\n\nCan I come alone?\n\nOf cou
rse you can\, we encourage it :)\n\nCan I be late?\n\nPlease don't be! We
do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while
we hang out\, but after that if you arrive too late\, it disrupts the flow
of the conversation.\n\nWhere do you meet?\n\nThe location is posted in M
eetup and our Whatsapp group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED t
hat you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities hav
e a Practical Philosophy Club\, you can see our chapters on our website.\n
\n🤝POLICY\nTo respect our members privacy\, we ask that no one privately m
essage a member without first getting explicit consent. Contacting or text
ing other participants without prior consent is not permitted and may resu
lt in removal from the group. Practical Philosophy reserves the right to e
