 for a walk through the Maxwell Street Market and the surrounding area . We
  will meet at 1 pm at the corner of Roosevelt & Halstead and walk approxim
 ately two miles while discussing the history of the area and market\, Maxw
 ell Street Polish Sausage\, and the effects of urban renewal.\nThis will b
 e a Maxwell Market Sunday and we will be talking about Maxwell Street Poli
 sh and will end at Express Grill. Attendees will be responsible for purcha
 sing their own food if they are interested.\nPlease look for the person ho
 lding the sign that says "GWCN Event Meet Here" and the corner of Roosevel
 t & Halstead.\nThis event is free and welcome to all ages and abilities. W
 e will be walking about two miles so please be prepared to wear comfortabl

 eet is an east–west street in Chicago\, Illinois\, that intersects with Ha
 lsted Street just south of Roosevelt Road. It runs at 1330 South in the nu
 mbering system running from 500 West to 1126 West. The Maxwell Street neig
 hborhood is considered part of the Near West Side and is one of the city's
  oldest residential districts. It is the location of the celebrated Maxwel
 l Street Market (sometimes known as "Jew Town" and the birthplace of Chica
 go blues and the "Maxwell Street Polish"\, a sausage sandwich. A large por
 tion of the area is part of the campus of the University of Illinois at Ch
 icago and a private housing development sponsored by the university.
