 s most scenic stretches of coastline. This trip combines a beautiful rail 
 journey along the famous Riviera Line\, the seaside charm of Teignmouth\, 
 a short ferry crossing to Shaldon\, a lovely coastal walk\, hidden beaches
  and tunnels\, and the option to enjoy a relaxed dinner by the waterfront.

 n\nThe journey itself is part of the experience. After leaving Exeter\, we
 ’ll follow the spectacular Riviera Line\, one of Britain’s most scenic rai
 lway routes\, hugging the coastline through Dawlish before arriving in Tei
 gnmouth with views across the English Channel.\n\n🎨 Explore Teignmouth\n11
 :15 am – 12:45 pm\nWe’ll begin by exploring Teignmouth\, where the River T
 eign meets the English Channel.\nWe’ll wander through the Arts Quarter\, w
 ith its independent galleries\, artisan shops and cafés\, before with the 
 option to visit the Teignmouth & Shaldon Museum and Heritage Centre to dis
 cover the town’s maritime history and Victorian seaside heritage.\n\nWe’ll
  then stroll to Back Beach\, one of Teignmouth’s most photographed spots\,
  with colourful fishing boats and views across the estuary towards Shaldon
 .\n\n⛴️ Ferry to Shaldon\nWe’ll take the traditional passenger ferry acros
 s the River Teign to the village of Shaldon.\n\nThe short crossing has con
 nected the two communities for centuries and offers lovely views of the es
 tuary\, Teignmouth waterfront and surrounding coastline.\n(Ferry fare paya
 ble on the day.)\n\n🌺 Discover Shaldon\nBefore starting the walk\, we’ll v
 isit Shaldon Botanical Gardens\, a peaceful hidden gem overlooking the est
 uary. The gardens are home to a variety of subtropical and Mediterranean p
 lants that thrive in the area’s mild coastal climate.\n\n🥾 Shaldon Coastal
  Circular Walk\nApproximately 6 miles (around 3 hours)\nOur circular route
  explores a fine section of the South West Coast Path\, combining dramatic
  cliffs\, woodland trails and spectacular coastal scenery.\n\nHighlights i
 nclude:\n\nViews across Lyme Bay and the English Channel\nThe historic Smu
 gglers Tunnel\nThe secluded Ness Cove\nDramatic red sandstone cliffs\nPeac
 eful woodland paths\nViewpoints across the Teign Estuary\nOpportunities to
  spot seabirds and coastal wildlife\nDifficulty: Moderate. The route inclu
 des hills\, steps\, uneven paths and some coastal climbs\, so comfortable 
 walking footwear and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended.\n\n🦞 E
 vening Food in Teignmouth\nAfter returning by ferry\, we’ll have the optio
 n to enjoy dinner together at one of Teignmouth’s waterfront restaurants\,
  pubs\, bistros or cafés.\nAs a historic fishing town\, Teignmouth offers 
 plenty of seafood choices and traditional fish and chips. There are also v
 egetarian and meat options available.\nIf time allows\, we’ll take a leisu
 rely stroll along the beach and promenade\, enjoying the evening sea air a
 nd coastal views before heading back to the station.\n\n🚆 Return to Bristo
 l\nWe’ll aim to catch the 8:06 pm Great Western Railway service back to Br
 istol\, arriving later in the evening after a fantastic day exploring Sout
 h Devon.\n\n🎟️ Booking Information\nTo benefit from the Great Western Rail
 way GroupSave fare\, participants travelling by train will need to coordin
 ate and travel together on the same GWR services.\nI have a Railcard\, but
  everyone is responsible for arranging and purchasing their own ticket.\n\
 n👥 Group Size\nNumbers will be capped lower than usual due to the limited 
 capacity of the Shaldon passenger ferry.\n\nPlease only RSVP if you are ge
 nuinely intending to attend. Last-minute cancellations may prevent someone
