 ll be reading Taiwan Travelogue by the Taiwanese writer Yang Shuang-zi.\n\
 nThis richly layered historical novel is set in 1938 during the Japanese c
 olonial period in Taiwan. It follows a Japanese novelist who travels acros
 s the island under official sponsorship to write a “travel account” of Tai
 wan. What begins as a commissioned travel narrative slowly unfolds into so
 mething more complex and intimate: a meditation on colonial power\, transl
 ation\, and the unstable boundaries between observation and lived experien
