  people going\n\nHI EVERYONE\, COST AND INFO BELOW\, Please note approx 20
 -25 members will be on the walk\, not what is advertised\, as only half th
 e members turn up with most meetup groups.\n\nWe have a beautiful\, fun 4 
 mile or 6 mile walk\, sitting majestically next to the River Thames\, the 
 16th Century Royal Palace for Henry VIII\, also an incredible beautiful wo
 odland walk and elegant cafes (cafe stop)\, pubs and restaurants\, River T
 hames walk\, ponds\, wild deer\, with some brief great historical info suc
 h as the famous Hampton Court Palace\, (birthplace\, death\, marriage\, im
 prisonment and treason of Kings and Queens)\n\nWe will walk through the be
 autiful\, scenic\, amazing Royal Park's Bushy Park which also is home to t
 he National Physics Laboratory (NPL) with the most accurate clock in the W
 orld\, Bouncing bomb testing tank\, Issac Newton's tree\, first in many th
 ings such as computing\, radar\, internet and where Alan Turing worked dir
 ectly after WW2\n\nIn Bushy Park is the Laboratory of the Government Chemi
 st (LGC) famous murder cases and forensic science into the death of the Yo
 rkshire Ripper victims\, Madeline McCann\, the death of Princess Diana\, S
 tephen Lawrence and Milly Dowler\, drink drive blood results\, DNA\, sexua
 l misconduct tests\, drugs for illegal cases\, pharmaceutical drugs and ca
 ncer testing.\n\nCamp Griffith within Bushy Park with its connection to WW
 2 for the greatest task force ever assembled by the Navy\, Land and Air fo
 r D-Day\, the invasion of 156\,000 troops attacking the beaches of Normand
 y\, France. Camp Griffith was the headquarters of SHAEF\, the Supreme Head
 quarters of the Allied Expeditionary Force and thousands of troops during 
 WW2 and housed the commander in charge\, General Eisenhower who later beca
 me President of the United States.\n\nView the Princess Diana fountain tha
 t dates back to the 1600's\, the famous Home Park that is home to the Hamp
 ton Court Flower show and a wonderful walk along the River Thames walk bac
 k to the station or come for riverside drinks and food after!\n\nIt's such
  a large park\, the second largest Royal Park in London! So we will not be
  able to see the government buildings and Camp Griffiths as the area is to
 o large to cover\, but will be able to hear about them!\n\nWithin Zone for
  Oyster and Travelcards\, Trains every 30 mins from Waterloo\, Vauxhall (V
 ictoria) Clapham Junction (Overground)\, Wimbledon (District)\, Surbiton\,
  Buses nearby R68\, 411\, 111\, 216\, 461. Only a short train journey from
  London Trains\n\n£10 cash/card payment by simply turning up on the day\n\
 nPlease meet outside the front of Hampton Court Railway Station\n\nThe wal
 k starts and ends at Hampton Court Railway Station\n\nWe will stop at The 
 Pheasantry Cafe within the Woodland Gardens for about 20 mins. The cafe wi
 ll be busy so suggest\, bring a small pack lunch\, we can sit looking at t
 he wonderful view of the Woodland Gardens before heading off the 2nd part 
 of the walk.\nDrinks and social after and sit outside if it's a sunny day!
 \n\nDetails\, There are 2 options..\nJoin us for a wonderful 4 mile (7.2 k
 m) daytime walk from Hampton Court\, through the magnificent Bushy Park\, 
 Woodlands Gardens\, Heron Ponds\, Diana Fountain and then pass by the beau
 tiful Hampton Court Palace back to the station on a circular walk 4 mile g
 roup will make their own easy way back to the station\n\n6 mile walk has a
 bove but also the extension of Home Park where the Hampton Flower show is 
 held\, amazing Long Water\, and a lovely walk along the River Thames.\n\nB
 ushy Park is the second largest of London's Royal Parks 1\,100 acres in ar
 ea\, after Richmond Park. The Arethusa 'Diana' Fountain was designed by Si
 r Christopher Wren as a grand approach to Hampton Court Palace.\nThe park 
 is listed at Grade I on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.\n\nHam
 pton Court Palace\nCardinal Wolsey\, a favourite of King Henry VIII in 152
 9 gave the palace to the King\; The King arranged for it to be enlarged so
  that it might more easily accommodate his sizeable retinue of courtiers. 
 Along with St James' Palace\, it is one of only two surviving palaces out 
 of the many the King owned.\n\nThe structure and grounds are cared for by 
 an independent charity\, Historic Royal Palaces\, which receives no fundin
 g from the Government or the Crown.\n\nApart from the Palace and beautiful
